5-week German language course is designed for learners at the A2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Each 1-hour-session focuses on enhancing everyday communication skills, with an emphasis on vocabulary expansion, grammar practice, and listening comprehension. Through interactive exercises and practical dialogues, students will gain confidence in navigating common situations such as shopping, traveling, and making appointments.

The fee for the course is $30 for non-members, which includes a $20 membership to the club. The membership offers access to discounts on other club events and activities (check out our calendar of events [hyperlink]). For current members, the course fee is $10. 

By the end of the course, you will have strengthened your ability to engage in basic conversations and understand simple texts in German. No book necessary, copies will be provided.

Mark your calendars as our Annual Christmas Market is on Saturday November 23rd from 10am - 4pm.

There will be lots of vendors, a german deli, and lunch options from the kitchen.

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help create Christmas wreaths, swags, and centerpieces for sale at the VEC Christmas Market. All proceeds will go to support the Victoria Edelweiss Club.

Join us in the main hall at for a fun and creative day. No experience is necessary—just bring your energy! If you have gardening gloves and pruning scissors, please bring them along. Coffee and cookies will be provided to keep everyone fueled.

The Literaturkreis meets in the "Hubertusklause" (Upper Bar)

Our main goal and purpose is to create a cheerful, harmonious gathering, characterized by enthusiasm and love for the diversity and beauty of poetry and prose in the German language.

The duration is about 2 hours with a joyful coffee social afterward. Everyone interested is warmly welcome.

TOPIC for the Day:

The topic for our November meeting is twofold. The German poet, novelist and playwright Joseph von Eichendorff (1788 – 1857) and the German Romantic landscape painter Caspar David Friedrich (1774 – 1840). Please come prepared to share a favorite poem or story, or fact or article about the life and times of these two remarkable men.

A friendly reminder that our Literaturkreis meetings are conducted in German. The meeting will conclude with a coffee social where we can continue our discussions in a relaxed setting.

Das Thema unseres November-Treffens ist zweigeteilt. Der deutsche Dichter, Romanautor und Dramatiker Joseph von Eichendorff (1788–1857) sowie der deutsche romantische Landschaftsmaler Caspar David Friedrich (1774–1840). The topic for our October meeting is Erich Kästner (1899 –1974), a German writer, poet, screenwriter and satirist born in Dresden, known primarily for his humorous, socially astute poems and for children's books including Emil and the Detectives and Lisa and Lottie. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in six separate years.

Please come prepared to share a favorite poem or article about the life and times of Erich Kästner.
